Selling an older car privately is a lot harder than you think. For starters, it sits on online selling boards for months because very few people are interested in buying a run down junk car. Once you do find a buyer, you'll most likely have to sell for a lot less than you intended. They'll try to get a great deal out of you, and since you've waited so long you'll accept it just to be done with the whole ordeal. Instead, you can sell it for scraps and have it gone from your home within a couple of days with cash in hand.
